Hospital |
| The Gunnedah Shire has a modern hospital
of 43 beds. The hospital provides a high standard of
general medical and surgical services including a day
surgery care facility. The Obstetric Unit services approximately
150 deliveries per year. Further specialist care is
available in Tamworth.
A busy Emergency Department services the
community through on call Visiting Medical Officers.
The Health Service has a broad range
of community health services including child and family
health, Aboriginal health, chronic and aged services;
Physiotherapy, X-Ray facilities and a Public Health
Dental Clinic are also located on the campus. Gunnedah
Hospital also has a helipad and can access the Westpac
Helicopter Service and Childflight services to Newcastle.
Other health facilities in Gunnedah are NSW Ambulance
and a pathology service.
The Air Ambulance and Child Flight Neonatal Helicopter
serve the community on request.

| Alkira is a 38 individual room, with ensuite,
Ageing in Place residential Aged Care Facility. It provides
24 hours a day, 7 days a week care for the elderly in
secure, first class accommodation. Alkira provides a safe,
caring lifestyle, where family and friends visit, residents
are encouraged to enjoy their hobbies and can plan outings
and travel to nearby places of interest. There is a well
balanced activities program provided and supervised by
a qualified Diversional Therapist. Residents can avail
themselves of the walking path and safely meander through
the extensive lawns and gardens It is situated close to
the shopping centre and near to amenities. Alkira is an
independent community owned not for profit organisation,
serving the elderly of Gunnedah. |

| Gunnedah Nursing Home |
Gunnedah Nursing Home trading as Lundie
House comprises 58 High Level Nursing Home beds - Lundie
House, 14 Low Level Hostel beds - McAuley and 16 Dementia
Specific beds - Inala. This gives a total of 88 Residential
Aged Care beds for our Community. The three tiers of Aged
Care on one campus allows the Residents to move to the
most appropriate section as their care needs alter, without
needing to move to another Facility. Gunnedah Nursing
Home Association Inc. is unique in our Community for this
multi tiered care delivery.
The complex is situated at the foot of the Porcupine Lookout
with outstanding views of the Liverpool Plains. The Nursing
Home section was opened in 1991 and the Hostel and Dementia
Extensions were opened in 2007. The Nursing Home building
is now commencing refurbishment and already a new Catering
Department has been completed where all meals for Residents
are cooked freshly each day, utilising local fresh produce.
The Resident Lounge Room rebuilding is also complete and
gives the Resident's a large open area with magnificent
views of Porcupine, often noting Koalas and Kangaroos
in the surrounding paddocks.
Care Staff comprise Registered Nurses, Endorsed Enrolled
Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing.
Gunnedah Nursing Home Association Inc. now employs over
100 Staff and makes a contribution of $3.3 million to
the local economy each year.
