Gunnedah Shire Council initiated a Scholarship Fund in 2003 to encourage the Youth of the Gunnedah Community to undertake post high school educational pursuits. Council took the initiative to commence this project with its contribution of $5,000 and has since received support from many sectors of the community in the form of donations ranging upwards from $100 which has ensured the successful continuation of the fund. Also annually in January the Community Scholarship Fund holds a Charity Golf Day to further bolster the Fund.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Scholarship Fund can do so by sending their donation to:
