Gunnedah Shire Saleyards is one of the largest selling centres in NSW. Drawing cattle from Oberon to Bourke, and St George in QLD to Walcha, this facility attracts buyers from as far as Melbourne in Victoria.

Gunnedah is a beautiful cattle fattening area and the Gunnedah Saleyards facility has EU (European Union) accreditation. Prices in large cattle are amongst the best in the state due to the large buyer pool. The yards are earthing yards, which helps cattle travel from

farther areas attracting the large buyer pool.

Cattle sales are held each Tuesday and a Store Sale is held on a monthly basis and visitors are welcome to attend the sales to get a real idea of Australian country living.

In the financial year ended 30 June 2001, the Gunnedah Saleyards turned over a massive $68 million, up $10 million on the previous year.

The Gunnedah Saleyards employs around 50 people including 14 agents.
