With the approval by Council in November of a multi-million dollar flight training academy at Gunnedah airport, progress is being made to have the facility operational during the later half of 2010.
The $13.5M development will provide accommodation and training for up to 400 student pilots, and should inject around $15M into Gunnedah's economy each year, as well as provide over 80 jobs.
On December 1, 2009 the NSW Minister for Regional Development, Mr Phil Costa formally announced the establishment of the facility to representative media in Sydney. In attendance were representatives from the proponent, Australa Asia Flight Training Pty Ltd, Gunnedah Shire Council, TAFE NSW and the NSW Department of Indusrty & Investment.
