If you would like to join us and you are 18 years and over, you can contact us on 1800 201 000 or 13 25 00, or better still come and see us at our headquarters in Bennett road on a Tuesday night between 7pm and 9pm.
We will give you some forms to fill in or assist you in doing so, explain our training and give you an insight into the Roles State Emergency Service.

Because of the work we do we are often associated with the general public and young people and as such we now have to have a police check on people who join our ranks. This is a painless and private process where you sign a form giving permission for our State Headquarters to have the check carried out. The outcome is private and confidential and you are advised by mail of the result.

We have a volunteer base of 30 members. The members occupations range from:

  • Labourers
  • Teachers
  • Ambulance Officers
  • Landscape Gardeners
  • Administration
  • Self Employed
  • Retired and Unemployed
  • and all walks of life
