With one of the largest and healthiest koala colonies in Australia, getting close to these beautiful creatures at the stunning Waterways Wildlife Park can become a reality. You can even see them in the wild on one of our many defined bushwalking tracks. If caravanning, camping and water sports are more your style, catch the action at Lake Keepit State Park, just a short drive from Gunnedah. Whilst in Gunnedah you can visit perhaps the best rural museum in Australia or take in an auctioneer's call at the Gunnedah Saleyards every Tuesday.

Experience breathtaking views across the black soil plains of the upper Namoi Valley and the mountainous surrounds of this unique district from Porcupine Lookout. By day the skies will dazzle you with their blue intensity, at night you will be blanketed by a million stars.

You will marvel at the natural beauty of the district, learn the history and culture, feel the natural charm and enjoy the hospitality and comfort that only Gunnedah people can offer. It is little wonder that this beautiful area inspired Dorothea Mackellar (author of "My Country") to write some of her amazing poetry and prose.

Welcome to Gunnedah. We know you will enjoy your stay!
