The Civic is a brand new state-of-the-art cinema/theatre in the Gunnedah Cultural Centre. Surround sound, a crystal clear picture and luxurious seats add to the pleasure of watching all the latest releases, as well as regular sessions of art-house and archival films.

The Civic is a valuable addition to Gunnedah's cultural scene. The town has a long tradition of supporting artistic, dramatic, musical and dance events, and the new Civic, with its high quality sound, lighting, stage and backstage facilities is now the ideal home for several first-class local and touring productions

The Gunnedah Cultural Centre is the focal pointfor the Shire's cultural activities. It incorporates The Civic, the original Town Hall and The Creative Arts Centre, which houses the town's permanent art collection and presents new work by local artists and travelling visual arts and historical exhibitions. The centre offers workshops and practical experience in theatre and projection skills, conducts a program of arts and crafts classes, and organises other major community cultural events.

The Civic is also available for conferences, launches, meetings and other presentations. The auditorium accommodates 140 people. Its light and airy foyer is suitable for informal functions, and additional meetings and meal rooms are available within the complex.
